Properties: A rich hardwood with excellent durability, African Blackwood takes up to three years to season fully. It has straight, even grains and is very even textured to touch.

Other facts: Known as Mpingo in Tanzania, its durability means the wood is widely used. A popular choice for musical instruments, it is often used on
piano keys and bagpipes.
