THUYA BURR

Origin: North Africa and Southern Spain. Also Cyprus, East Africa and Malta.

Properties: Thuya Burr is unusual in that it is the root that is of interest to carpenters. It is heavily coppiced to encourage root growth and has striking knotty, interlocking grains. Due to the quantity of natural oils in the wood it seasons and ages well.

Other facts: Due to its unique appearance, Thuya Burr is highly prized for decorative uses, such as jewellery boxes and decorative veneers.
